SURVIVING AND THRIVING AFTER THE DIAGNOSIS: DEVELOPING YOUR PERSONAL ROADMAP

Seven practical and engaging sessions that will enable you to develop a roadmap for negotiating the challenges of parenting a child with special needs. During this interactive group you will:

Focus on self-care
Caring for a child with special needs is incredibly demanding. It is hard enough just to manage all of the resources our kids need, much less stay on top of daily routines. So who has time to think about self-care? Yet, in order to really be there for your child, you need to be there for yourself. This workshop provides you with the inspiration and tools .

Get a fresh perspective on the biggest challenges
From understanding and dealing with challenging behaviors to encountering barriers to getting resources, we all encounter frustrating situations. We’ll focus on ways that you can survive and even thrive during the tough times.

Celebrate your strengths
One of the “gifts” of having a child with special needs is that we can discover gems in ourselves and our family. We take time to appreciate these strengths as they help us navigate through common experiences: advocating for our child, spending quality time with other members of the family, surviving through the IEP, and dealing with friends and family.
